PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Two 9-year-olds were arrested at their elementary school Monday after a lunchroom aide discovered they were carrying 15 plastic bags of marijuana in their pockets.
School officials confronted one of the third-graders, who readily showed them three bags of marijuana and said he got them from another third-grader on the school bus.
The second third-grader was found with 12 bags.
Police say the kids planned to sell the dope to other students.
The boy with three bags was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, a felony because it happened on school grounds. The second boy was arrested on a charge of felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Both were taken to the police station Monday before police released them to their parents.
The boys are automatically suspended for 10 days and recommended for expulsion under the school district's zero tolerance for drugs policy.
